Idaho Mining Association Teacher Training Project
The Idaho Mining Association and the National Energy Foundation have provided Idaho teachers with mineral and mining training for K-12 since 1996. Through this training, they can teach students about mining and minerals.
OUT OF THE ROCK is the premier program for teachers from the National Energy Foundation program. This two- to three-day workshop focuses on earth science, economics, geography, geology, Idaho history and social studies. Cost is $10.
During this workshop teachers will:
- Learn from experts in the field and get hands on experience at a local mine operation;
Make a sample rock and mineral kit; - Receive a variety of materials, which can include the 544-page activity guide, posters, videos and the Rock Music CD and songbook.
Teachers who use the Out of the Rock curriculum in their classrooms can earn Professional Development graduate credits. For more information, contact the National Energy Foundation at 801-800-618-TEAM, www.nef1.org/outoftherock, or email at info@nef1.org
